About the journal
The ???NLU Tripura Journal of Law and Policy??? is a peer-reviewed/referred academic journal published by the National Law University, Tripura (NLU Tripura). The journal aims to provide a platform for scholars, researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to engage in critical analysis and discussion of contemporary legal and policy issues. It is an annual journal in English language, published in the month January every year.
Vision and Objectives
The vision of the NLU Tripura Journal of Law and Policy is to promote scholarly discourse
that bridges the gap between law, policy, and practice. It seeks to:
- Foster an academic environment that encourages the exploration of diverse legal and policy perspectives.
- Encourage interdisciplinary research that contributes to the understanding and development of legal and public policy frameworks.
- Provide insights into the challenges and opportunities in law and governance at both national and international levels.
- Serve as a resource for academics, practitioners, policymakers, and students by offering high-quality, original, and innovative scholarly contributions.

Peer Review Process
The Journal adheres to a double-blind peer review policy, ensuring complete anonymity of both authors and reviewers. All manuscripts are assessed exclusively on the basis of scholarly merit, originality, and relevance. Reviewers are expected to provide constructive and objective feedback, and editorial decisions are made in accordance with their evaluations, thereby maintaining a fair, unbiased, and rigorous review process that upholds academic integrity.
- Submissions to the Journal are reviewed on a rolling basis.
- The acceptance or rejection of manuscripts is communicated within six weeks from the date of submission. The Editorial Team endeavors to complete the review process within this timeframe.
- Upon acceptance, authors are required not to publish the
accepted manuscript, in whole or in part, on any other platform, including academic journals, media outlets, or blog spaces. - Authors must be prepared to incorporate revisions as suggested by the reviewers and editors.
- All final editorial changes to the submitted content shall remain at the discretion of the Editorial Board.
Authors Guidelines
General
- The NLUT-JLP Journal accepts submissions on a rolling basis.
- All submissions shall be mailed to nlut-jlp@nlutripura.ac.in with the subject ???Submission for NLUT-JLP Journal???
- There are no fees for submission or publication.
Guidelines
- Articles: Original research articles that contribute new insights to legal and policy scholarship. Word limit: 8000-10000 words.
- Case Comments: Analysis of recent legal judgments and their implications. Word limit: 3000 words.
- Legislative Reviews: Examination of proposed or existing legislation and its impact on society. Word limit: 3000 words.
- Book Reviews: Reviews of recent publications in law and policy. Word limit: 2000-3000 words.
- There are no specific or particular theme(s) or topic(s) for the journal. All submissions, relating to the legal developments directly or otherwise, are welcome.
- All submissions should be in electronic form only via mail to nlut-jlp@nlutripura.ac.in
- All the submissions must consist of an Abstract of not more than 300 words, highlighting the main contribution. The submission must be sent along with up to 6 Keywords mentioned below the Abstract in the manuscript.
- Covering Letter: Author(s) must send a covering letter mentioning the title of the paper, name, designation, and details of the author(s) as well as institutional affiliation. The author(s) are compulsorily required to make a solemn declaration about the originality of the manuscript and that the same has not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere.
- The manuscript should be typed in MS Office, Times New Roman, Font Size 12. The footnotes must be Time New Roman, Font Size 10. The alignment should be justified.
The Line Spacing of the main text and footnotes must be 1.5, 1 respectively. - Submissions with plagiarized content and copyright issues will be rejected outrightly
- The decision on the acceptance of the paper for publication will be that of the Editorial Board, which shall be final. The communication shall be made electronically. The Editorial Board reserves the right of publication and a manuscript may be rejected from publication in the final stage(s).
Note: All the word limits mentioned above are exclusive of footnotes. Kindly note that the word limits will be strictly enforced.
Terms and Conditions
The authors and contributors should comply with the following terms and conditions,
- The submission should be well researched/documented follow the ILI mode of citation.
- The submission should be an original work of the contributor and not a compilation of pre-existing works on the subject.
- The copyright in all articles published in the journal shall vest in the owner of the NLUT-JLP Journal.
- The Contributor has to cover the risk of being sued for copyright, defamation, or contempt, and he/she may be liable for copyright violation.
- Any manuscript containing the contents generated by artificial intelligence (AI) or machine learning (ML) shall be rejected outrightly.
Frequency
The ???NLU Tripura Journal of Law and Policy??? will be published annually to ensure a timely dissemination of cutting-edge legal research.
